As mentioned previously, your objectives state what and when you want a goal to be achieved. Your strategy will state how you intend to meet your objective. You may have only one strategy for each objective, or you may have several. However, in the end, all your strategies should generate the results stated in your objective.

For example, if your objective is to increase the sales of popsicles by 1,000 in 2009, you may have a couple of strategies that will contribute to that desired goal as follows:

(1) Strategy #1 – Expand route to new homes in X, Y, and Z neighborhoods (sell 600 additional popsicles).

(2) Strategy #2 – Set up kiosks for winter sports that are indoors (sell 400 additional popsicles).

When combined, these strategies add up to the desired results as stated in the objective: selling 1,000 additional popsicles.
