Switch to Harborstone

It's easy to switch your existing account from another financial institution to Harborstone Credit Union. Simply follow these four steps, and you'll be on your way to a Harborstone membership!

  1. Switch Direct Deposits: Start by switching your direct deposit. This can be handled by your employer, Social Security, or the company handling your retirement or pension plan.
  2. Switch Your Bill Pay: Switching your Bill Pay shouldn't be complicated. Just a few easy steps, and you'll be on your way. Start with our step-by-step guide for switching your bills today.
  3. Automatic Payments: Don't forget to change your automatic or recurring regular withdrawals. Think of gym memberships, utilities, and monthly subscriptions. It takes just minutes.
  4. Close Former Accounts: You're almost there! A Harborstone membership is just one final step away. To complete your application, contact your former financial institution, and close your accounts. The form is simple to complete.

Membership Eligibility

As a community credit union since 1955, anyone in Washington State can join. Below is a complete list of what would make you eligible for membership at Harborstone Credit Union, even if you aren't in Washington State.

  • Live, work, or worship in Washington State
  • Are a family member of a current Harborstone member, regardless of location
  • Are active, reserve, or retired military
  • Are active or retired civil service employee

Join Harborstone

It's easy to become a Harborstone member.

The application to open your first Harborstone account can be done completely online, so you never have to visit a branch. You must meet the requirement for membership, be at least 18 years of age, and a U.S. citizen or U.S. resident alien to open your account online. Harborstone requires a one-time $5 membership fee. Minimum opening deposit amount, rates, and terms are determined by our Truth-In-Savings agreement.

Please have the following items available before you begin:

  • Your U.S. Social Security number
  • A valid form of identification, including driver's license, state ID, military ID, or passport
  • Your previous home address (if you have lived at your current home address less than two years)
  • A U.S. checking or savings account to fund your new account(s)

Are you a business owner?

Business Accounts

Harborstone cannot open business accounts online; however, business owners may begin the process of opening an account by submitting a request form online, calling (253) 583-9727 or 1-800-634-6506, or visiting any Harborstone branch.

To be eligible for membership as a business owner at Harborstone, you must have a valid Washington State business license and satisfy our business account requirements. Click here to review the list of documents you'll need to open your business account.
