Our History

Seventy years of serving Washington communities

1955

Harborstone began as McChord Federal Credit Union serving airmen on McChord Air Force Base who each owned one $5 share of of the credit union.

1996

We changed our name to Harborstone Credit Union and opened our membership to everyone in Washington state.

2013

We combined forces with Prevail Credit Union, which allowed us to provide more branch locations and provide our members access to the CO-OP ATM and Shared Branching networks.

2016

We brought TULIP Cooperative Credit Union under our wing. With a shared mission to strengthen our communities through financial counseling, the partnership has allowed us to serve our existing members better, with access to new products and resources and to improve our communities by welcoming underserved people back into the banking system and offering education for all.

We continue to serve those who serve, to honor our rich history with our military. We serve all communities in and around the Puget Sound as well as our members from across the state of Washington.
