Frequently Asked Questions

  • You can send, request, or receive money with Zelle®. To get started, log into Harborstone Online Banking or Mobile App and select Send Money with Zelle®. Enter your email address or U.S. mobile phone number, receive a one-time verification code, enter it, and accept the terms and conditions.

To send money using Zelle®, select someone from your mobile device's contacts (or add a trusted recipient's email address or U.S. mobile phone number), add the amount you would like to send and an optional note, review it, and hit Send. In most cases, the money is available to your recipient in minutes.*

To request money using Zelle®, choose Request, select the individual from whom you would like to request money, enter the amount you would like, include an optional note, review it, and hit Request. If the person you are requesting money from is not yet enrolled with Zelle®, you must use their email address. If the person has enrolled their U.S. mobile number, you can send the request using it.

To receive money, share your enrolled email address or U.S. mobile phone number with another person and ask them to send you money with Zelle®. If you have already enrolled with Zelle® you do not need to take any further action. The money will be sent directly into your Harborstone account, typically within minutes.*

*A U.S. checking or savings account is required to use Zelle®. Transactions between enrolled users typically occur in minutes and generally do not have fees.

  • When you enroll with Zelle® through the Harborstone app, we share with Zelle® your name, Harborstone Credit Union as your financial institution, and the email address or U.S. mobile number you enrolled with (we do not share sensitive account details).

When someone sends money to your enrolled email address or U.S. mobile number, Zelle® looks them up in its directory and notifies Harborstone of the incoming payment. Harborstone then directs the payment into your Harborstone account.

  • Zelle® is a fast, safe, and easy way to send and receive money with people you trust. To ensure you are safe:

Only send money to people you know, and trust money moves fast with Zelle®, directly from checking account to checking account within minutes.* It is important you know and trust the people you send money to. You cannot cancel a payment once it has been sent if the recipient is already enrolled with Zelle®.

Beware of payment scams; refuse requests to use Zelle® unless you know the recipient. No one from Harborstone will ask you to send money with Zelle® as a test or to send money to avoid a fraud event. Neither Harborstone nor Zelle® offers a protection program for authorized payments made with Zelle®.

Treat Zelle® like cash; verify the email or U.S. mobile number your recipient used to enroll with Zelle® before you hit Send. Another good checkpoint for ensuring you're paying the right person is to confirm the first name that is displayed for enrolled emails and U.S. mobile numbers. If a person has already enrolled a U.S. mobile number or email address with Zelle®, you can't cancel the transaction. It's important you get it right the first time.
