Reasons our members report wanting to temporarily turn off or “freeze” their debit card are:

  • They lost their card and want to prevent anyone from using it while they look for it.
  • Their card was stolen, or they believe someone else has it.
  • They see a charge they don’t recognize and want to stop any additional transactions while they contact us.
  • They entered card information on a suspicious website or fake shopping page.
  • They clicked a scam link and worry their card or account information may have been exposed.
  • They shared card details by phone, text, or email before realizing it may have been a scam.
  • They used the card at a compromised ATM, gas pump, or card reader and suspect skimming.
  • They received a fraud alert and want to pause card activity until they verify whether the transaction is legitimate.
  • They notice small “test” charges that could mean a fraudster is checking whether the card works.
  • Their wallet or purse was lost or stolen, even if they are not sure someone has used the debit card.
  • They suspect account takeover activity, such as unusual login attempts or changes to account information.
  • They are traveling or shopping online and notice unexpected declines or alerts, which could indicate suspicious activity.
